Men's Squash Blanks Tufts to Open Season

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Amherst College men's squash team opened their 2017-18 season with a 9-0 sweep of Tufts University on Friday evening at Davenport Courts.

Terrence Wang '21 opened up his collegiate account with a win at first singles, 11-5, 11-5, 6-11, 11-5. David Merkel '19 won in straight sets at #2, as did Rob Parker '21, who handled the third spot with an 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 victory.

Cameron Bahadori '18 began his final season with an 11-8, 11-3, 11-9 win at four, and Pavan Nagaraj '21 took fifth spot 11-3, 11-7, 11-6.

The tightest match of the night came at the six spot, where Reginald Brewster '21 held off his opponent in four sets, 11-7, 3-11, 11-9, 11-3.

Mateen Mills '20, Chris Zimmerman '20, Arnav Parikh '21 and Lucas Sheiner '19 all earned straight set wins to cap off the lineup.

Amherst improves to 1-0 on the season and will be right back on their home courts on Saturday afternoon when they host Boston University at 1:00 PM.
