No. 24 Men's Squash Edged by No. 23 Colby, 5-4 in Consolation Playoff

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 24 Amherst College men's squash team was edged, 5-4 by No. 23 Colby College in Sunday afternoon's College Squash Association (CSA) Men's National Team Championship consolation playoff in Cambridge, Mass.

With the loss, Amherst moves to 7-13 overall.

Amherst picked up four wins against Colby including a 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-7) win from David Merkel '19 on court three. Lucas Sheiner '19 added a 3-2 (5-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-6) comeback win on court six, while Christopher Zimmerman '20 earned a come-from-behind victory on court seven (5-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 12-10). In the ninth position, Mitch Ford '20 added a 3-2, 8-11, 11-3, 11-4, 10-12, 11-7 win.

The Mules notched just one sweep (court four), and a 3-1 triumph on court two. Colby needed five sets on courts one, five and eight to secure the match.

Harith Khawaja '19 fell 3-2 (11-8, 11-7, 4-11, 7-11, 11-6) on court one, Darian Ehsani '17 was edged, 3-2 (13-11, 11-3, 5-11, 10-12, 11-7) on court five, while Mateen Mills '20 fell 3-2 (11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 4-11, 13-11) in the eighth position.
