AMHERST, Mass. – The 22nd-ranked Amherst College men's squash team edged No. 23 Bowdoin College, 5-4, to advance to the consolation finals of the 2016 Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Men's National Team Championships at Yale University Saturday morning.

Amherst rounds out CSA Team Championship action tomorrow against No. 21 Colby College at 10:30 a.m. in the consolation finals.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

  • Amherst received a win from the first position from Noah Browne '16 who notched a 3-0 (12-10, 11-6, 11-6) sweep to improve to 13-2 this season.
  • The Purple & White also posted wins from the third and six positions as David Merkel '19 powered to a 3-1 (11-8, 3-11, 11-5, 13-11) victory, while Jeremy Van '18 posted a 3-0 (11-3, 11-7, 12-10) sweep.
  • Michael Groot '17 added a 3-0 (11-5, 11-8, 11-4) win from the seventh position, while Cameron Bahadori '18 clinched the victory with a superb 3-2 (4-11, 11-3, 13-11, 9-11, 11-8) victory from the fourth position.
