Jeffs Best No. 25 Conn. College, 8-1

AMHERST, Mass. - The 21st-ranked Amherst College men's squash team posted an 8-1 victory over No. 25 Conn. College in day one action at the Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by the Jeffs at the Davenport Courts on Friday afternoon.

With the win, Amherst improves to 3-2 overall, while Conn. College moves to 1-4 on the season. The Jeffs return to Pioneer Valley Invitational action on Saturday, Jan. 17 when they host Hamilton College at 12:30 p.m. and Colby College at 3 p.m. at the Davenport Courts.

Noah Browne '16, Scott DeSantis '15, Max Kardon '15 and Stephen Cacouris '16 each picked up a 3-0 sweep from the No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 8 courts respectively. Darian Ehsani '17 fought off a late rally by Conn. College's Randy Coplin to win, 3-2 (9-11, 11-7, 11-4, 6-11, 11-6) on the No. 4 court; while Michael Groot '17, Jeremy Van '17 and Alex Southmayd '15 each secured 3-1 victories from the No. 3, No. 6 and No. 7 courts respectively.

The Camels received a 3-0 victory from Santiago Moran who defeated Amherst's Thornton Ellis '16 on the No. 9 court (11-3, 17-15, 11-4). In non-scoring play, Rafael Gamba defeated the Purple & White's James Line, 3-2 (11-6, 7-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-5) from the No. 10 court.
