Jeffs Fall to No. 12 Naval Academy, 8-1

AMHERST, Mass. - The 21st-ranked Amherst College men's squash team fell to No. 12 Naval Academy, 8-1 on Sunday morning at the Davenport Courts. 

With the loss, Amherst falls to 2-2 on the season, while Navy improves to 12-4 overall.

The Jeffs picked up their lone win of the contest from the No. 1 court as Noah Browne '16 defeated Andrew McGuinness, 3-1 by scores of 11-7, 7-11, 11-7 and 11-9. On the No. 2 court, Scott DeSantis '15 took Josh Hughes to four sets but fell, 3-1 (11-6, 11-8, 13-15, 11-8), while Max Kardon '15 also took Randy Beck to four frames (11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-7) before losing 3-1 on the No. 5 court. 

Sophomore Jeremy Van won the first set, 11-7 on the No. 7 court, but lost the next three to John Hsu, 11-6, 11-9, 11-9. On the No. 9 court, James Line '16 fell to Sam McCartney by scores of 11-4, 8-11, 11-4 and 11-4. 

Amherst is back in action on Jan. 16-18 when it hosts the Pioneer Valley Invitational at the Davenport Courts.
