Jeffs Edge No. 22 Bowdoin, 5-4

AMHERST, Mass. - The 21st-ranked Amherst College men's squash team edged No. 22 Bowdoin College, 5-4 on Friday at the Davenport Courts.

With the win, Amherst improved to 2-0 on the season, while Bowdoin moved to 1-4 on the season.

Amherst picked up a pair of wins from the No. 1 and No. 2 courts as Noah Browne '16 and Scott DeSantis '15 swept Bowdoin's Matt Cooper and Christian Dorff by respective scores of 11-6, 11-9, 11-17; and 11-4, 11-4, 11-9. The Polar Bears' Max Bearse took Darian Ehsani '17 to four sets on the No. 3 court and won 3-1 (11-3, 12-10, 8-11, 11-8), while Michael Groot '17 edged Andrew Ward on the No. 4 court, 3-2 (13-11, 8-11, 5-11, 11-5, 12-10).

Bowdoin's Ben Bristol posted a slim, 3-2 win over Max Kardon '15 on the No. 5 court (6-11, 11-5, 11-8, 8-11, 11-9), while Alex Reisley swept the Purple & White's Cameron Bhadori '18, 3-0 from the No. 6 court. The Jeffs picked up another 3-2 win on the No. 7 court as Alex Southmayd '15 dispatched Cyrus Nassikas (7-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8), while Steve Cacouris '16 posted a 3-0 sweep of Henry Haig from the No. 9 spot (11-9, 11-9, 11-8). The Polar Bears notched their fourth win on the No. 8 court as Michael DeFranco defeated Jeremy Van '17, 3-1 (11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9).

Amherst is back in action tomorrow, Jan. 10 and will face Bates at 5 p.m.
