Amherst Defeats Northeastern, 7-2

AMHERST, Mass. - The 21st-ranked Amherst College men's squash team earned a 7-2 win over 33rd-ranked Northeastern Saturday afternoon in the team's 2014-15 season-opener.

The Jeffs, led by their top of the lineup, open the season 1-0. Alex Southmayd '15, Scott DeSantis '15 and Cameron Bhadori '18 each swept their opponents from the No. 1, 2 and 3 courts, respectively.

Southmayd defeated TJ Dyer by scores of 11-7, 11-1 and 12-10, while DeSantis and Bhadori cruised to victories. The Jeffs picked up wins from the middle of their lineup as well, led by three sweeps from Darian Ehsani '17, Steve Cacouris '16 and James Line '16. Ehsani defeated Connor Rouan from the No. 5 court, and Cacouris and Line claimed wins from the No. 6 and 7 spots, respectively. Peter Woolverton '17 added a 3-1 win for the Jeffs from the No. 8 position. Despite falling in the second set, 6-11, he retailied to take the next two by scores of 11-7 and 11-9.

Amherst returns to the courts Friday, Dec. 5 for the three-day Division III Individuals.
