AMHERST, MA – The NESCAC announced today the members of the 2008 Men's Squash All-Conference Team, with Amherst College senior co-captain Mark Rapisarda (Brooklyn, NY) representing the Lord Jeffs as one of the 10 honorees. Rapisarda led Amherst to a 10-11 overall record this season and landed 63rd in the most recent CSA national individual rankings.
Rapisarda spent his senior campaign switching between the No. 1 and No. 2 spot for Amherst, posting a 10-10 individual record on the season. The senior co-captain won six matches when playing in the Jeffs' No. 1 spot and was 4-2 as the No. 2 player. Rapisarda was often matched up with some of the best players in the country, including 25th-ranked Andres Vargas of national powerhouse Trinity College.
One of Rapisarda's most impressive victories as a senior came when he was paired up with Adam Greenberg of Brown University in the No. 2 matchup. Despite Amherst being outmatched overall, Rapisarda came back from a two-games-to-none deficit to steal the match by winning three consecutive games.
Team competition has concluded for Amherst, but the CSA Individual Championships will begin Friday, Feb. 29.
