Fellow sophomore David Bauer (Darien, CT) dropped the second game of his match but held on for a 3-1 victory over Colin O'Higgins in the number-three spot, while fourth-seeded sophomore John Holodnak (Wellesley, MA), fifth-seeded rookie Asad Haque (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and sixth-seeded senior Joseph Ebersole (Washington, DC) swept their matches 3-0.

Rounding out Amherst wins, sophomore Roger Boulay (Norfolk, MA) topped Shayan Haque 3-1 and senior David Breslin (St. Louis, MO) outlasted Phil Beatson 3-2.
