AMHERST, Mass. – If preseason accolades are any indication, the Amherst College men's lacrosse team is gearing up for a successful spring after student-athletes raked in the preseason honors from US Lacrosse Magazine, Inside Lacrosse and the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA).

The reigning IMLCA DIII Offensive Player of the Year, IMLCA Northeast Region Offensive Player of the Year and NESCAC Player of the Year, senior attackman Evan Wolf was named the Warrior/US Lacrosse Division III Men's Preseason Player of the Year after being held to just one non-multi point game in 2018 while scoring a goal in every appearance to tally 53 goals and 31 helpers for 84 total points in 2018.

After picking up nine All-NEILA selections last May, Amherst claims seven spots on the 2019 NEILA All-New England Division III Preseason Teams. Wolf, midfielder Matt Solberg, short stick defender Jimmy McAfee, and face-off specialist Dylan Finazzo each earned a First Team selection, while attacker Colin Minicus, defender Reid Shilling and defender Tamer Sullivan secured Second Team honors.

Inside Lacrosse was the final organization to highlight Mammoths in their preseason awards, with Wolf, Finazzo and McAffee each earning First Team Preseason All-America nods and Minicus and Solberg clinching Third Team Preseason All-America selections.

The Mammoths kick off the 2019 season on March 2 with a 1 p.m. conference bout against Colby College at Bill Alfond Field.
