Preview: No. 10 Mammoths to Battle No. 1 RIT, No. 2 Denison at Mustang Classic

AMHERST, Mass. -- The No. 10 Amherst College men's lacrosse team is set for one of the biggest weekends of the season, as the Mammoths will face off against the two top-ranked teams in Division III as part of the annual Mustang Classic hosted by Stevenson University.

"This weekend will be a real test of where we stand right now as a team. It's an early season challenge that I'm excited to see us rise to. I'm less concerned about the ranking of our opponents, although they are both substantial opponents, versus how we compete on both nights," commented Amherst head coach Jon Thompson. "The Mustang Classic has clearly become the premier event in Division III on an annual basis. Stevenson University and Inside Lacrosse put on a fantastic event, and we feel fortunate to be a part of it. The opponents are world class, and the media coverage is fantastic. It really is going to be a fun weekend.  I hope like heck we just play as fast as we possibly can, while not hurrying. If we do that, and we compete our tails off – I'll be a happy man."
