Five Men's Lacrosse Players Garner All-NEILA Honors

 AMHERST, Mass. - The Amherst College men's lacrosse team had five players earn 2017 All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) honors as announced by the organization Tuesday.

Matt Killian '17 earned First Team All-NEILA praise, while Uzoma Egbuchulam '17, Dylan Finazzo '20, Andrew Ford '19, and Colin Minicus '20 were each named Honorable Mention All-NEILA.

A 2017 First Team All-NESCAC selection at the short stick defensive midfield position, Killian registered 14 goals and 11 assists (25 points) during his senior campaign, helping Amherst secure the third seed in the NESCAC Championship tournament. Killian also caused 16 opponent turnovers and picked up 59 ground balls - ranking second on the team in both categories.

An impact player in the defensive third of the field, Egbuchulam helped pace Amherst to a fifth NCAA Division III Championship appearance following a senior season that saw him scoop 31 ground balls and cause 14 opponent turnovers, as he was a key factor in the Mammoths' transition game during the 2017 season.

At the faceoff X, Finazzo was superb in his rookie campaign, going 289-for-452 in draws and 156 ground balls – both NESCAC highs. He also registered five assists and caused three turnovers to highlight his Second Team All-NESCAC mention.

In the midfield, Ford provided the Mammoths with 13 goals and six assists (19 points), collected 28 ground balls. For his efforts, Ford was voted to the All-NESCAC second team.

The 2017 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, Minicus led the Mammoths in points (73) and the NESCAC in assists with 42. In addition to picking up 39 ground balls, he also contributed 31 goals during his first year in the Pioneer Valley.
