HADLEY, Mass. - Amherst College first-year Colin Minicus was named the NESCAC Player of the Week in men's lacrosse as announced by the league office on Monday.
Minicus picked up his first NESCAC weekly accolade after helping lift Amherst to a 2-0 week which featured a thrilling, 15-14 double overtime win against Conn. College, and a 21-15 triumph over No. 2 Tufts University.
Minicus scored four goals and assisted five others during the Mammoths' win over Conn. College. The Darien, Conn. native scored the game-tying goal with 5:25 to play in the fourth quarter helping to setup the thrilling conclusion to the contest. Against Tufts, Minicus dished out eight assists as Amherst outscored the Jumbos, 13-3 in the second half en route to a 21-15 victory. Minicus also picked up eight ground balls during the week, including five against the Camels, and finished the week with a 72.2 shots-on-goal percentage.
Amherst returns to action Saturday, April 22 with a NESCAC and Little III showdown at Williams College at 1 p.m. in Williamstown, Mass.
