Eddie Effinger '12 enters his fifth season on head coach Jack Arena's' 83 men's ice hockey staff.

While attending Amherst, the Belleville, Ill. native played in almost one hundred collegiate games while earning a degree in environmental studies and economics. He was a key member of the 2009 and 2012 NESCAC Championship teams. Effinger served as team captain during his junior and senior seasons and helped lead the Purple & White to arguably their most successful season in 2011-12 with their first-ever Frozen Four appearance. Throughout his four-year playing career, Amherst posted a 74-23-10 record, the highest winning percentage over a four-year period in program history.

Effinger spent the 2012-2013 season playing for the Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League (CHL). His parents, Rick and Trudy, and three brothers, Charlie, Alex, and Eric, live in the St. Louis area where their family owns and operates Effinger Garden Center.
