NEWINGTON, Conn. -- Will Lonnquist of Amherst men's golf tied for third overall with a combined card of 145 in the Detrick Invitational, where the Mammoths finished third in their first tournament of the fall slate, on Sunday afternoon at Indian Hill Country Club.
As a team, Amherst shot a combined score of 602 on the weekend, adding two strokes from their day one score of 300 to move up one spot in the 10-team field.
Senior Nicholas Kumamoto '20 cut seven strokes off his day one score of 80 to lead the Mammoths, who cllinched the third spot over Tufts University by one stroke.
Cameron Clark '20 finished tied for 14th overall and third on Amherst with a 154 through both days of competition. Brian Aslanian '22 matched Clark's total score to round out the official scoring for the Mammoths on the weekend.
Cole Vissicchio '20 and Erik Zetterstrom '22 shot a combined 158 and 160, respectively.
Babson College went on to win the tournament shooting a combined 581, which was 15 strokes ahead of second place finisher, Trinity College, who shot 300 in the final 18 holes of the tournament.
The Mammoths are back in action when they travel to Middlebury College for the Duke Nelson Invitational from September 14-15th at Ralph Myre Golf Course.
