HADLEY, Mass. – After an imposing junior campaign which saw a few top-10 performances, Will Lonnquist '20 was named Second Team All-NESCAC, as announced by the league office Wednesday morning.
Lonnquist makes his first appearance on the all-league ballot after opening his junior campaign strong, leading the Mammoths at the Trinity Invitational shooting three over par and tying for 6th overall. The Mammoth marked a 75 on day one and a 72 on day two of the Duke Nelson Invitational before tying for 25th at the NESCAC Qualifier, cutting eight strokes off his day one score (82, 74) to finish with a 156 on the weekend.
In the Mammoths final fall tournament, Lonnquist placed 10th overall at the Elms Invitational after carding a 73 on day one and an 80 on day two for a combined 153 on the weekend.
In their spring opener at the Wildcat Spring Invitational, Lonnquist posted a 154 through 36 holes to aid the Mammoths in their first place finish before Amherst rounded out their season hosting the Little Three Championships where the Minnesota native bested both of his opponents in match play competition.
At the Little Three's, Lonnquist teamed up with Cameron Clark '20 to post a decisive win over Wesleyan, going up seven holes with six remaining to nab a point for the Mammoths. In the afternoon, Lonnquist also took down Cardinal Eli Epstein-Lubow after going up five holes with four remaining to pace Amherst in their shutout over Wesleyan in the tournament.
