WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Cutting five strokes off of their team score on day two, the Amherst College men's golf team finished +75 behind a 324-319-643 mark to hold steady and tie for 13th at the 20-team Williams Fall Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club.
Host Williams took the top team spot with a 588 (+20), followed by Husson University (605) and Trinity College (607).
First-year Erik Zetterstrom paced the Mammoths to earn 37th overall, carding a 75-82-157 to finish plus 15 on the weekend.
With an 85-77-162 mark, Brian Aslanian '22 placed 62nd, while Jack Burlison '19 (81-82-163) and Nicholas Kumamoto '20 (84-79-163) each finished one stroke behind Aslanian to end the tournament plus 21 and tie for 65th overall.
With a day one score of 84 and a day two mark of 81, Will Lonnquist '20 was the final Mammoth scoring golfer, placing tied for 76th overall with a 165.
Amherst returns to action next weekend, Saturday, Sept. 29 when they compete in the two-day NESCAC Qualifier at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, Conn.
