Amherst Edges Hamilton By Four Strokes to Qualify for NESCAC Championship

NEWINGTON, Conn. – The Amherst College men's golf team cut 23 stokes off their day one score at the NESCAC Qualifier at the Indian Hill Country Club to card a 322-299-621 and edge Hamilton College (625) for the final spot in the NESCAC Championship this spring.

COURSE PAR: 72 – 6,513 yards
TOP-MAMMOTH: Cameron Clark '20 (8th)

After recording an 83, Clark cut 24 strokes off his day one mark to notch a 67 on day two and tie Will Rosenfield of Trinity for the lowest single round score of the Qualifier. Clark's two-day score of 150 landed him eighth overall.

Tying for 14th, Jack Burlison '19 logged an 81-75-156, while Jeffery Herr's '20 158 (79-79) mark landed him a 20th place finish.

Nicholas Kumamoto '20 closed out the weekend +16 after posting a score of 82-78-160 to tie for 24th, while Cole Vissicchio '20 rounded out Amherst's scoring golfers with a 164 (80-84) to place 32nd overall.

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • With their top-four finishes, Trinity (582), Williams (602), Tufts (617) and Amherst (621) advance and are set to compete in the NESCAC Championship tournament this spring hosted by Trinity.  
  • Clinching fourth overall, the Mammoths have now qualified for four of the last five NESCAC Championships.
