Jeffs Dominate Lasell 94-65 Behind Harper Double-Double

AMHERST, MA - Junior guard Adam Harper (Washington, DC) tallied a game-high 19 points, grabbed a career- and game-high 13 rebounds, snagged a game-high five steals and dished out three assists to lead the Amherst College men's basketball team to its fourth straight win, a 94-65 drubbing of visiting non-league foe Lasell College on Tuesday night. 

Senior forward Steve Zieja (Hadley, MA) and sophomore point guard Ray Corrigan (Queens, NY) joined Harper in doubles figures with 11 points each. Sophomore forward Andrew Schiel (Wayne, PA) overcame early foul trouble to chip in with 10 points in just 12 minutes. 

Amherst and Lasell traded leads over the first six minutes until the Jeffs jumped ahead for good with a 9-0 first-half run, capped by one of a trio of three-pointers by junior sharpshooter John Donovan (Holmdel, NJ) with 13:03 left before the break. The Jeffs then put the game out of reach late in the second half, outscoring Lasell 25-7 over the final 7:39. 

Lasell (10-3) placed three players in double figures in defeat. James Iosua (Wakefield, MA) and Demetriuis DeJesus (Bronx, NY) led the way with 15 points each. 

Amherst, which jumped two spots to No. 10 in the Monday's national poll, improved to 13-2 with its fourth straight win. The Jeffs return to action Friday at 7 p.m. against visiting NESCAC rival Middlebury College, followed by a Saturday afternoon conference tilt against visiting third-ranked Williams College at 3 p.m.
