Schwartzman Totals Five Points, Named NESCAC Player of the Week

NESCAC RELEASE

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Junior midfielder Laura Schwartzman of the No. 19 Amherst College field hockey team has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week following a five-point performance for the Mammoths.

In addition to her disruptive play in the midfield during Amherst's 2-0 week, Schwartzman was a clutch offensive catalyst – netting the game-tying goal in the 68th minute against Colby to force overtime before dishing out the assist on the game-winner in a 2-1 comeback victory.

A native of Darien, Conn., Schwartzman also posted the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win versus Bates a day later to finish the week with five points and a .667 shot percentage.

Schwartzman and the rest of the Mammoths return to the field on Thursday, Oct. 18 when they host Smith in a non-conference clash under the lights at 7 p.m.
