SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Senior tri-captain Kendall Codey of the Amherst College field hockey team has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week for her stellar efforts on the turf during the Mammoths' 2-0 week.
Spearheading the charge in Amherst's 4-3 comeback victory over archrival Williams, Codey used back-to-back shots to tally her third and fourth goal of the season – netting the game-tying goal in the 46th minute to erase a 2-0 deficit, and giving the Mammoths their first lead on the game in the 58th minute.
A standout defender for Amherst, the Summit, N.J. native also shined as an anchor to a defense that allowed just three shots on net in the second half against Williams and limited Endicott to six shots on goal in a 3-1 win over the Gulls earlier in the week.
Codey and the rest of the Mammoths return to the field tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 25 when they host MIT in a clash of top-20 teams beginning at 7 p.m.
