AMHERST, Mass. -- Senior defensive lineman Andrew Yamin has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Amherst defense to a 21-0 win over Middlebury.
Yamin had a team-high 11 tackles and racked up 3.5 sacks for 22 yards as the Mammoths shutout the Panthers for their first win over Middlebury since 2015.
The effort was part of a six-sack effort by the Amherst defense, who have eleven sacks on the season, good for second in the conference.
Yamin leads the conference with 5.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss, both categories in which he led the NESCAC last year.
The Mammoths are 4-0 for the first time since 2015, and will return home this Saturday to host Colby at 1:00 PM at Pratt Field at Lehrman Stadium.
