DANBURY, Conn. – Adding to his growing list of postseason accolades, senior safety Jimmy Fairfield-Sonn of the Amherst College football team was named to the 2015 D3football.com All-America team, and earned recognition on the Third Team Defense.
Fairfield-Sonn became the fifth member of the Amherst football team to garner All-America praise from D3football.com, joining DB Brian Daoust '01 (2000), DL Pat McGee '02 (2001), CB Fred Argir '10 (2009), and DT Kevin Ferber '12 (2010, 2011).
In addition to his most recent accolade, Fairfield-Sonn was also named to the D3football.com All-East Region First Team Defense, the New England Writers Division II/III All-New England Team and the NESCAC All-Conference First Team Defense. The Old Lyme, Conn. native also picked up two yearly awards and was named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, while also claiming the Joseph P. Zabilski award – which is announced by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston and recognizes New England's top offensive and defensive players for Division II and III.
The senior was a pivotal member to Amherst's perfect 8-0 season, which resulted in a third consecutive NESCAC title, and second outright. He concluded the 2015 campaign tied for third on the team in tackles (52 total; 27 solo), fourth in the NESCAC in interceptions (4), tied for seventh in the league in pass break-ups (6), and also led the conference in both blocked field goals (2) and defensive touchdowns (2).
