Baseball Stymied by Denison to End Florida Swing

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Despite outhitting their opponents 6-4 on Sunday morning, Amherst College couldn't push any runners across the plate and suffered a 4-0 defeat to Denison College in the final game of baseball's Spring Break trip to Florida.

Severino Simeone '20 and Kai Terada-Herzer '21 had two hits apiece for the Mammoths (3-5), and Davis Brown '19 struck out four batters over four innings, while the bullpen tossed four more innings of one-run, ball allowing just one hit.

The Big Red did most of their damage in the bottom of the second inning when they scored three runs, two of them on a home run by Will Krushena.

Jack Blanchard drove in Brian McAuliffe twice for Denison, once on a sacrifice fly in the second and again with a double to left center in the seventh.

Next up for the Mammoths is their home opener, a 3:30 pm game this Wednesday against Westfield State in Amherst.
