HADLEY, Mass. – Sophomore third baseman Nick Nardone of the Amherst College baseball team has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
An offensive catalyst for the Mammoths in a 4-0 week that featured a 14-7 victory against Eastern Connecticut State and a three-game series sweep of NESCAC West opponent and archrival Williams, Nardone went 7-for-14 at the dish, including two home runs, to rack up 10 RBIs and score five runs. Nardone also drew two walks on the week to post a .500 batting average, a .527 on base percentage and a stellar .929 slugging percentage in the four-game span.
On the season, Nardone has recorded a .386 batting average (10th in NESCAC), .420 on-base percentage, and a .586 slugging percentage (5th in NESCAC).
Amherst returns to action today, Monday, April 17 when they host No. 21 Salve Regina University at Memorial Field beginning at 4 p.m.
