AMHERST, MA –The Amherst College baseball team dropped a pair of games in a doubleheader at Trinity College this afternoon. The Jeffs dropped game one 3-0, before a rain delayed second game loss of 7-1. Amherst first-year Andy Thal (McLean, VA), sophomore Brendan Powers (Walpole, MA) and junior Evan Bruno (Williamsburg, VA) were held hitless by the blazing Bantam pitching, combining to go 0-for-19 at the dish.
Junior Chris Edgar (Massapequa, NY) pitched six innings in game one for the loss, striking out four and surrendering three earned runs. Senior hurler Nick Kehoe (Washington Depot, CT) took the losing decision in the nightcap, going the distance and giving up all seven earned runs.
Amherst returns to action tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. when the Jeffs face Saint Michael's College for the last pair of regular season home games.
