2006 Amherst Baseball Milestones


  • Finished the season at 22-9-1 overall and 8-3-1 in NESCAC West Divisional play.
  • Nineteenth in the nation in earned run average (3.14) and 39th in win-loss percentage (0.703).
  • First in the NESCAC in earned run average (3.14), opposing batting average (.243), saves (8), hits allowed (251), runs allowed (129), earned runs allowed (94), walks allowed (83), doubles allowed (44) and home runs allowed (5). Also third in strikeouts (204).


  • Senior Tri-Captain Pitcher Joe Vladeck (Washington, DC)
  • First-Team New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Division III All-New England.
  • NESCAC Pitcher of the Year.
  • First-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Named to the NEIBA Division III Senior All-Star Team.
  • Second-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1.
  • Eleventh in the nation and first in the NESCAC in earned run average (1.55). Also led the conference in wins (7-0) and opposing batting average (.191), tied for fourth in strikeouts (49) and finished fourth in innings pitched (64.0).

  • NESCAC Spring All-Academic.

    Senior Tri-Captain Pitcher Rob Anderson (Winnetka, IL)
  • Led NESCAC with five saves.
  • NESCAC Spring All-Academic.

    Senior Outfielder Andrew Green (Lexington, MA)
  • Second-Team All-NESCAC.
  • First-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1.
  • NESCAC Spring All-Academic.
  • Seventh in the NESCAC with a .411 batting average and sixth in on-base percentage (.496). Also, struck out just seven times in 128 plate apperances. 

    Senior First Baseman Dave Levinson (Philadelphia, PA)
  • Twenty-eighth in the NESCAC in batting average (.342) and third in putouts (298). 

    Junior Pitcher Nick Kehoe (Washington Depot, CT)
  • Secont-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Second in the NESCAC in opposing batting average (.220). Also, tied for third in wins (six), finished fourth in earned run average (1.99), seventh in strikeouts (43) and eighth in innings pitched (54.1).

    Junior Pitcher Brian Donahue (Sudbury, MA)
  • Sixth in the NESCAC in strikeouts (46) and innings pitched (55.2). Also, seventh in the conference in earned run average (2.91) and opposing batting average (.251). 

    Sophomore Catcher Josh Card (North Adams, MA)
  • Tied for eighth in runners caught stealing (6).

    First-Year Outfielder Angus Schaller (Leucadia, CA)
  • Named NESCAC Player of the Week for the week of March 20, 2006, after smashing a three-run homer in his first at bat en route to a 6-for-9 performance for the weekend. Schaller had two home runs, seven RBIs, and a double.

    First-Year Third Baseman Brendan Powers (Walpole, MA)
  • Named NESCAC Player of the Week for the week of April 3, 2006, after erupting for 12 RBI in a six-for-14 week (.429) with seven runs scored, a double, his first two collegiate home runs and five walks in a 3-0-1 week for the Jeffs. He had a streak of reaching base safely in 11 consecutive at-bats at one point during the week.
