AMHERST, MA – Amherst College senior Joe Vladeck (Washington, DC) continued to add to his list of postseason awards on Monday morning, snagging First-Team New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England honors for the second consecutive season.
Vladeck has also been selected to represent Amherst in the NEIBA Senior All-Star game, to be played Sunday, May 28, at Fenway Park, as well as earning NESCAC Pitcher of the Year, First-Team All-NESCAC and ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-District. He posted a 7-0 record this spring and ranked 19th in the nation in ERA (1.55). He led the NESCAC in both categories, along with opposing batting average (.191), while finishing third in the conference in strikeouts (49) and innings pitched (64.0). Vladeck earned NESCAC Pitcher of the Year and first-team all-conference plaudits in his junior campaign as well after finishing 19th in the country and tops in the conference in ERA (1.59). He also led the NESCAC in strikeouts (64), innings pitched (73.2) and wins (7).
The Amherst baseball team finished at 22-9-1 overall and 8-3-1 in NESCAC West Division play this season.
