Jeffs Outslug Hamilton, 14-7

CLINTON, NY - The Amherst College baseball team improved to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in NESCAC West Division play with a convincing 14-7 win at Hamilton College on Friday, the first of a three game set against the homestanding Continentals. 

Amherst's big inning came in the second when they sent 10 men to the plate and scored seven runs. Dave Levinson (Philadelphia, PA) and Fran Morales (North Andover, MA) each hit a three-run homers run in the in the inning to blow the game open. 

Hamilton's battled back in the seventh, scoring four runs on four hits. Jack Halas (Revere, MA) hit a two-run home run, while Tom Bradley (Great Falls, VA) and Brett Zalaski (Simsbury, CT) each swatted RBI singles. 

John Schneider (Grand Rapids, MI) and Morales each had three hits for Amherst. Duncan Webb (Lynn, MA) picked up the victory, going 6.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs, while striking out seven. 

Jack Halas had a pair of hits for Hamilton, including his two-run homer. Justin Parker (North Andover, MA) also had two hits and scored a run. David Greene (Peterborough, NH) took the loss. He went 6.1 innings, allowing nine earned runs and striking out three. 

Amherst and Hamilton will wrap up the three-game set with a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
