Jeffs Drop 5-4 Heartbreaker to Ninth-Ranked Aurora

FORT MYERS, FL - Ninth-ranked Aurora (IL) University scored the winning run on an infield error in the final inning to hand the Amherst baseball team its first loss of the season in Fort Myers, Florida on Wednesday. The Jeffs fell to 4-1 with the 5-4 setback. Three of Aurora's five runs were unearned. 

Amherst junior starter Andy Kerns (Barrington, IL) struck out six batters over 4.1 innings before giving way to rookie reliever Rob Anderson (Winnetka, IL), who took the hard-luck loss to fall to 0-1. Senior catcher Joe Katuska (Southboro, MA) paced the offense with a pair of hits. Junior second baseman Fran Morales (N. Andover, MA) went 1-for-2 with an RBI. 

Amherst returns to action Thursday at noon against Ripon College in Fort Myers.
