Baseball Continues Hot Streak, Improves to 4-0 with 14-3 Win over Worcester St.

FORT MYERS, FL - The Amherst College baseball team is as hot as the sun in Fort Myers, Florida, where they steamrolled Worcester State College 14-3 on Tuesday afternoon to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Jeffs have now scored 49 runs on a whopping 56 hits in their four wins, while holding opponents to just nine runs. 

Sophomore slugger David Powers (Andover, MA) tagged his second round-tripper in as many games to lead the offense. Senior Brett Nicol (Orinda, CA) pierced the starting lineup at DH and belted his first home run of the season. Senior catcher Joe Katuska (Southboro, MA) went 2-for-3 with three RBI's and had a solid game behind the dish. Sophomore shortstop Josh Santry (Allendale, NJ) continued his hot hitting with two hits and an RBI. 

Senior right-hander Jonah Ansell (Oak Park, IL) pitched six strong innings, scattering five hits and striking out four en route to his second win. Rookie Joe Vladeck (Washington, DC) tossed three scoreless frames in relief. 

Amherst will put its unblemished record to the test Wednesday at 7 p.m. against ninth-ranked Aurora (IL) University, also in Fort Myers.
