Amherst and Trinity Split Doubleheader

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Amherst and Trinity split a pair of games at the Jeffs' home opener. The NESCAC rivals were tied at 1-1 after the 7th to push game one into extra innings. Kyle Armstrong led off the 12th with a double and scored off another double by Christian Sheehan. Rob Kane smacked the third double of five hits in the inning and went on to score the final run of the game.

Amherst's Dan Jin took second with 2 outs in the bottom of the 12th after stealing his 7th base of the season.

Amherst rebounded from a loss in the first game and from a 3-0 deficit in the second to score four runs in the 5th inning. Justin Cronk finished out Lord Jeff scoring with a home run to lead off the Amherst 6th. The Jeffs better their record to 10-3 as the No. 3 team in New England while the Bantams fall to 8-5. Trinity travels to Brandeis tomorrow while Amherst next faces AIC on Wednesday.
