Amherst Splits with Wesleyan

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- NESCAC rivals Amherst and Wesleyan split a pair of games as both claimed a win towards the Little III title. Williams leads the race to date with a 3-1 record, followed by Amherst with two wins and a loss. Wesleyan is currently 1-4 against Little III teams.

In game one, Amherst scored four times in the 6th inning to secure a win over Wesleyan. The Jeffs first got on the board in the 3rd with an RBI double by Dan Jin (Berkeley, CA) that drove home second-baseman Mike Grant (Mendon, MA).

Wesleyan's Eric Carmody (Phoenix, AZ) singled in the 6th and came home on a double by Christian Frattasio (Hanover, MA). Carmody again scored Wesleyan's only run of the second game off an error by Jeff shortstop Mike Brendler (Swarthmore, PA) in the top of the 1st.

Amherst now has a record of 19-4 as the No. 1 team in the region while Wesleyan is 12 14-1. The teams will meet again in Middletown, Connecticut on Wednesday after the Jeffs host North Adams on Tuesday.
